Facebook Messenger versus Whatsapp, which app is better for you.?

As we think about messaging, sharing photos, video calls with friends, relatives; our hands scroll on menu of smartphone to open either Whatsapp or Facebook messenger. Two widely used chat apps hold all most  2 billion people from different region around the world. Whereas, Whatsapp users are around 1 billion and Facebook messenger users are around 900 million. As both apps are controlled by Facebook, the last figure shows that the 60 billion messages process per day if we combined both apps. Both have there individual advantages and disadvantages, people use them according to there needs.

Features in WhatsApp

While Messenger and Whatsapp both perform virtually free on VoIP calling and group messaging,  these two are distinct in many ways. As Zuckerberg promised that he will not compromise with 'look and change' when Facebook brought Whatsapp last year.

In Whatsapp if we talk about privacy, everything you sent on Whatsapp is encrypted, which is not provided in Messenger. This means that the messages will be seen by only senders and receivers, as in last update the mentioned to provide end-to-end encryption. You can verify this on person's contact, it is written as " Messages you send to this chat and calls are secured with end-to-end encryption".From there you can verify manually with given code whether the chat is encrypted or not. So for now Whatsapp is the go-to messaging app for private communications.

As we know that both apps work on a same platform VoIP for free making audio and video calls. This features is very convenient if you are using Wi-Fi or if you don't have unlimited plan and need to save few bucks. The most important reason why Whatsapp became so popular is its ability to work smoothly across the wide range of countries, devices and signal strength. It performs smoothly on 3G, Wi-Fi and also in 2G network, due to that its popularity mainly spread in Europe , Asia and in developing world.

Features in Facebook Messenger

If we talk about sharing photos and videos both contain these features, both of them allow to share from camera roll, capture anything on spot, or allow to share with Instagram. But, if you have a huge collection of photos, Facebook messenger will be preferred because in Whatsapp limits 10 photos per message. It has another advantage over Whatsapp is natural integration with Facebook. It also connects with Photo Magic, which deploys face recognition technology. It is useful for group trips, weeding, or family reunions, this feature likely to save a lot of time.

When it comes for range of access people Messenger wins over Whatsapp. Whatsapp only provide to chat with people those who are in phone's contact perhaps it has more privacy but messenger allows you to  message anyone who has the app downloaded, even you don't need to be Facebook friend with them.

CAN YOU STRETCH SECONDS ON NEW YEAR'S EVE

" As per the shifting rotation of the earth, this New Year's Eve will be one second longer in 2016"

On December 31st, as the time goes, 72,000 seconds will be made 0.0014% longer to add up to a whole extra second. As it is known as "leap second" which complete in 61 seconds minute can produce enough chaos for computers that can't deal with it.

To subdue this issue, Google took a revolutionary approach by creating a new unit of time called "smeared time" which is used to stretch out seconds to make them longer.

As per the company's statement " At the beginning of the leap second, smeared will be just under 0.5s behind UTC,"  those who are not aware of Coordinated Universal Time(UTC), it is the international standard time which regulates clocks around the world.

This advanced system will work for Google's Network Time Protocol(NTP). This will allow all the machines to synchronize with the extra second that use its servers for company.

WHAT IS LEAP SECOND?

Leap second is the one-second adjustment that is occasionally applied UTC which keep clocks sync with the slowing of the Earth's rotation and make sure they are as accurate as possible. It was first introduced in 1972, the most recent one was last year on June 30.

As per the report in 2012, it played havoc with the internet particularly for web businesses such as Reddit, Yelp, LinkedIn. There are fears that the same could be happen in stock markets mainly in Australia as well as it is essential for research purposes.
